Coole & Haddock: Family & Mediation

Divorce/Separation

Life does not always turn out the way we plan. No family or relationship is immune to a breakdown. When the worst happens the best you can hope for is to avoid a traumatic and lengthy legal process – particularly when children are involved.

We recognise that the end of a relationship is both traumatic and stressful. We offer a sympathetic ear and practical advice on a variety of issues including:

  • divorce and separation
  • pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements
  • financial matters
  • children
  • pension claims
  • lump sum orders
  • deed of separation

We try to avoid unnecessary costly legal proceedings for our clients, partly to preserve the family’s assets and partly to help preserve relations. Legal arguments over finance tend not to bring out the best in people. Of course, if legal proceedings become necessary we are skilled at conducting them.

Fixed Costs

We know and understand that some clients are concerned about the cost of issuing divorce proceedings and with this in mind we are able to offer a fixed price divorce package for those issuing proceedings. Our costs are £450 plus VAT. There will also be court fees to pay which are currently £385 and do not attract VAT. These offers are on the basis that the proceedings are undefended.

We also offer a fixed fee of £275 plus Vat for clients who have received divorce proceedings.

Mediation

We can offer couples the opportunity to resolve matters through mediation and advise clients who need independent legal advice during mediation.

Our ultimate aim is to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients in the most cost effective and timely fashion.

We offer a free initial meeting for up to half an hour for you to meet us and for us to gain a preliminary view. We will then try to give you an indication as to the steps that may need to be taken, the likely costs and an estimate as to how long the matter will take.
